Duck Sauce

Duck sauce contains no duck meat. The sauce originated here in America and it got it’s name from being served with Peking Duck. This sauce is a condiment that is mostly used mainly with Chinese food. It is often used to dip egg rolls or spring rolls. It is a very delicious sweet sauce that is made from fruit like plums, peaches, and apricots. Sometimes it is called orange sauce or sour prune sauce. It is also used on a variety of Chinese dishes. It is rather very time consuming to prepare, but it is a very satisfying sauce with the right meal. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to cook. After the sauce is cooked it should be stored in the fridge. 5 cups of mixed fruit, chopped (plums, peaches, apricots, pears, apples)

1 cup of water

1 cup of apple juice

2 teaspoons of soy sauce

1 tablespoon of apricot preserves

1/2 cup of brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard


1. In a large pot, place the fruit, water, apple juice, soy sauce, apple juice, brown sugar, garlic powder, and dry mustard. Start on medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer. Stir often to keep from sticking to the bottom of the pot.

2. Reduce the heat to a low setting and allow the mixture to simmer for 45 minutes.

3. After 45 minutes of simmering, remove from the heat. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

4. Pour the mixture into a food processor or blender and blend until extra smooth.

5. The sauce should be placed in an airtight container and placed in the fridge.

6. Serve and enjoy.
